In March 2024 our founders veteran UK based Jewellers Norma Banton and Omujwok Okwa teamed up with Kenyan Gemmologist Kyalo Kiilu to lead a Jewellery pilot project for miners, youth and craftswomen in Machakos Kenya.
The Kamba people of Kenya own a reputation as world class craftspeople, with generations of exceptional woodcarvers, metal and bead workers and our leadership team, boasting over 80 years of Jewellery trade experience between them were blown away by their creative prowess.
We honour this heritage of skill and craftsmanship, reviving ancient traditions, with expert training and cross cultural collaboration ignighting memory whilst passing a baton to future goldsmiths.
Born from the rich earth of Africa and shaped by skilled hands, we create jewellery that tells stories. Stories of heritage. Stories of resilience. Stories of beauty formed over millions of years beneath African soil.

Africa is home to some of the world’s most breathtaking gemstones — vibrant tsavorites from Kenya, deep tanzanites from Tanzania, fiery garnets, tourmalines, and more. Yet for too long, many of these treasures have left the continent as raw materials, with little value added locally.
Africa Rocks Jewellery exists to change that narrative.
Founded in Machakos, Kenya in 2024 with creative direction by UK based veteran Jewellery designer Norma Banton under her mantra to ‘MAKE JEWELLERY CHANGE LIVES’.
